Our Guidance
-
All international guests should arrive at the José María Córdova International Airport (MDE/JMC).
-
The local currency is Colombian Peso (COP). While U.S. cards are widely accepted, we recommend having cash on-hand - consider limiting the cash you carry to $300 USD at one time.
There are ATMs readily available throughout the city, and we recommend only using ATMS that are within malls (Centro Comerciales) or major grocery stores (Carrulla).
-
We will provide transportation to and returning from the following events:
The Welcome Party
The Rehearsal Dinner
The Wedding
The city of Medellin is fairly spread out, and unless you are an experienced traveler through Latin America and/or are fluent in Spanish, we do not recommend using public transportation nor do we recommend hailing taxis off the street.
There are Ubers in abundance, and that is a great, affordable option for getting around. We highly recommend using Uber Comfort or Uber Black cars given automobiles in Colombia can be small and you are not guaranteed space for 2+ riders comfortably. Notify your bank of international travel to avoid blocked credit cards when you need an Uber.
Another great option is hiring a private driver. Private drivers are between $50 - $100 per day. We have a growing list of trusted drivers and Private Transportation companies that we trust and can recommend to you.
-
Medellín is known as the 'City of Eternal Spring' for its pleasant weather! Expect highs of ~78°F and lows of ~60°F.
Still, mountainous climates are unpredictable and surprise rain showers are common; bring a light rain jacket/umbrella and carry it with you on your excursions around the city.
-
There is an abundance of hotels and Airbnb’s in Medellin within great areas with restaurants, nightlife, and easy access to our venues. If you have any doubt, consult with us!
NOTE: All accommodations in Medellin are extremely strict about pre-registering guests. You will need your passport to check in to your accommodations, and you will need to pre-register every person that would be entering your accommodations. Expect that security, front desks, and Airbnb hosts will ask for a guests’ passport information.

Medellín is a welcoming, warm, and tourist-dense city. You’ll see many people of all walks of life, nationalities, and ages in the city.
Just like any major city, move smart and stay vigilant when having fun.
"No dar papaya" is a Colombian expression that means “don't put yourself in a vulnerable position where you can easily be taken advantage of.”
The phrase serves as a warning (to locals and tourists alike) to stay alert and cautious in various situations, particularly regarding personal safety and security.
It emphasizes the importance of not exposing oneself to unnecessary risks, such as leaving valuables unattended or flaunting expensive items in public.
